Richard was born and raised in WA but completed his Optometry studies at the University of New South Wales. He first joined Abernethy Owens back in 1990 but after 18 years as an Optometrist and Partner he returned to Sydney to complete his post-graduate qualifications.

While in Sydney, Richard ran a private practice and also enjoyed a teaching role at UNSW. With 30 years of experience, Richard is comfortable seeing patients of all ages. He particularly enjoys helping his younger patients to manage their short-sightedness using Orthok and other myopia control measures. 

In 2019, Richard returned to Perth and consults at our Woodvale, Floreat and Kardinya practices.

Born and raised in Perth, Janette completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science, double majoring in Anatomy and Physiology. Following this, she completed her postgraduate degree of Doctor of Optometry at the University of Western Australia.

Janette grew up with progressing myopia, so she knows first-hand what it's like to watch your prescription change year after year, and why managing it early matters. This drives her special interest in myopia control, including orthokeratology.

Janette provides comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages, whether it's a routine check, a new prescription, eye strain, or screening for glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease, especially if these run in the family. She strives to meet every patient's eye health and vision needs to a high standard.

outside of work, Janette loves the gym, spending time with family and friends, and gouache painting. She also shares eye health education on Instagram at @janettenguyen.od.
